Gli Cumbare story

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the Italian series I am currently working on with my fellow script- writer Robert D’Alessio.

We have invested much time and care to create a series that represents the Italian culture with a comedic and adventurous twist. Moreover, including the Greek culture to add an additional flavour of fun and laughs.

Gli Cumbare is an Italian series starring story creator/actress/co-producer Lisa Occhionero alongside script writer/co-producer/actor, Robert D’Alessio.

Our additional cast members include Lia Gentile, Stefano Vani, Francesca Occhionero, Sara Sabatini, Tasso Patsikakis, Luigi Portaro, and Tony Riccio.

Gli Cumbare originally started with four best friends. Marilisa (Lisa Maria Occhionero) who was married to an Italian singer, Nino, who mysteriously vanishes without a trace. Roberto Giuseppe (Robert D’Alessio) is married to Carmela (Elena Di Loreto), who also mysteriously vanishes.

The latter were dragged into an arranged marriage and from day one and they have always had a rambunctious relationship.

Roberto is a simple Italian man who has a big heart and has always loved Marilisa.

He is an honest, hard working man who holds three jobs because his wife’s lifestyle is expensive. Carmela and Roberto were the bride’s maid and the best man at Marilisa’s and Nino’s wedding.

Marilisa and Nino were a problematic couple. She is overloaded with work, house chores, and must make sure their daughter (Sara Sabatini) does her homework. She is left on her own to cook,clean, do the dishes, and make lunches for the next day. She is absolutely frustrated and very unhappy in her marriage. Before she married Nino she had met Roberto in Campobasso where Roberto professed his love. Marilisa fell in love with Nino instead.

Marilisa knows Roberto still loves her, but she seems to use it to her advantage at times. Marilisa is a soft heart but has been hurt many times in her life. She sometimes takes advantage of Roberto because she realizes they understand each other and all is done with the best of intentions.

Both Nino and Roberto were unfaithful husbands and have jumped the fence more than once. However Nino and Carmela’s mysterious disappearance has Nonna Rosa (Francesca Occhionero) introducing the protagonists to Conchetta (Psychic) to help bring closure to these odd disappearances. Where will her visions take the shaken duo? Why is Sara such an important part of the disappearances?

In addition to this thrilling situation, Sara becomes the patient of an odd yet quirky child psychologist who is entertained by his two best friends. Together this zany trio bring laughs and familiarity to all Italian buddies sharing good times and fun! Moreover… what will this trio do next?

Gli cumbare is a series which focuses on a various situations which terrains the characters into each other’s lives.

This social media Italian series has begun to create a wave of excitement amongst our Italian community locally, as well as internationally. We have received feedback as far as Australia, to congratulate our efforts to bring forth authentic Italian tradition, comedic Italian parodies and antics, and to unite with our fellow Italians worldwide.
